Banjarbaru, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Rain with strong winds that occurred in almost all area of South and Central Kalimantan at dawn on Sunday (Dec 29, 2019) has disrupted electricity supply to customers.
Communication Manager of PT PLN Main Unit of South and Central Kalimantan Syamsu Noor here on Sunday (Dec 29, 2019) said, the strong winds have caused many trees near the PLN's electricity network distribution to fall.
"The fall down of trees have caused distruption of electricity distribution of the 20 kiloVolt (kV) medium voltage power line (SUTM) thus the electricity supply was interrupted," he noted in a press-release received by Antaranews.
Some of areas in the city of Banjarmasin that have experienced power distruption, including Kayutangi, Marabahan, Lambung Mangkurat, Angdam dan Padat Karya. The supply has been interrupted.

The process to restore the electricity supply to customers in these areas, according to him, would take quite time, due to workers have to clean the distribution network from fallen trees.
"PLN personnel have been dispatched and at this time are still working to return the power to normal. They are being assisted by a team from the Environment Agency," he pointed out.
