Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - PT PLN main unit of South and Central Kalimantan signed Power Purchase Agreement (SPJBTL) with its first high voltage customer in South Kalimantan, PT Indocement Tunggal Prakarsa (ITP), Wednesday (Nov 20, 2019), as a form of its commitment to boosting the regional economy.
The PLN Director of Regional Business of Kalimantan Syamsul Huda noted in a press-release, the signing of SPTJBL with a total power of 55.000 VA was in line with PLN's vision and mission to make electricity as a driving force for economic activities and to improve the quality of people's life, specifically in South Kalimantan.
"With the large potential of industry in South Kalimantan, especially in mining, electricity supply is one of the energy needed in the operations of companies engaged in mining sector," he said.
PLN, he remarked, is committed to provide electricity supply need by companies or investors to guaratee their operations and equipments used to work optimally.
Indocement, he explained, previously used captive power of its own power plant. Now with the signing of SPJBTL, the company's electricity need is fully supplied by PLN.

He hoped, the electricity system in South and Central Kalimantan will be more reliable and helps increase the productivity of the industrial sector. Thus it will boost the investment climate and economy in South Kalimantan.
"Currently the total capacity of (South and Central Kalimantan) interconnection system reaches 1,635 MegaWatt (MW), with the highest peak load of 1,263MW, there is still a reserve or surplus of 371MW. This condition certainly proves that PLN's electricity supply for prospective investors is no longer a problem," he pointed out.

The President Director of PT Indocement Tunggal Prakasa, Tbk Christian Kartawijaya appreciated PLN for its hard work in providing a realible electricity in South Kalimantan.
“We appreciate PLN for moving fast in providing electricity we need. Hopefully it can increase productivity and efficiency in our company,” Christian said.
