Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Some member of South Kalimantan Legislative Council (DPRD) have again checked the development of the Tabalong's Kinarum dam.
"We need to check the construction of the Kinarum dam to know the extent of its development," said member of Commission III for Development and Infrastructure H Iberhim Noor here before leaving for "Bumi Saraba Kawa" (Tabalong's nickname) on Monday.
"We want to know for sure the problems of the Kinarum which until now has not been optimally functional," he said, answering the South Kalimantan Antaranews.
The people's representatives from the Electoral District of South Kalimantan IV (Tapin, South Hulu Sungai, and Central Hulu Sungai) said they were not satisfied with the visit several times before.
The reason was the Commission III has almost never received an explanation from the person most responsible for the construction of the dam.
"Indeed, the main building of Kinarum which costs billions of rupiahs, has been completed. But it will not be able to function optimally, because the water distribution channel has not yet completed," he said.
Meanwhile, based on planning, Kinarum dam will irrigate thousands of hectares of rice fields not only for Tabalong, but if possible reach neighboring areas, namely some rice fields in Balangan.
