Banjarbaru, 6/8 (Antaranews Kalsel) - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded that South Kalimantan's cumulative economic growth until the second quarter of 2018 experienced a fairly good growth of 4.85 percent.
"South Kalimantan's economic growth of 4.85 percent is higher than the growth in the same period last year of 4.64 percent," Head of BPS South Kalimantan Diah Utami said in Banjarbaru, Monday.
She said the economy in South Kalimantan in the second quarter 2018 was measured by the amount of Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) reaching Rp43.12 trillion above the first quarter of Rp39.83 trillion.
Compared to the previous quarter, the economy in the second quarter grew by 7.10 percent due to the high growth of expenditure components.
"Economic growth has slowed due to the decline in export performance in the first half of 2018 and all of them have been contributed by household consumption expenditure (PKRT) and gross fixed capital formation (PMTB) components," he said.
According to him, the growth was due to the performance of four categories of business fields that had the largest share, namely the mining and quarrying, agriculture, industry and trade categories.
"The total role of the four categories reached 52.23 percent, which came from mining 20.20 percent, agriculture 15.71 percent, industry 13.57 percent and trade 9.75 percent," she said.
He explained, economic growth in the second quarter of 2018 compared to the second quarter of 2017 was slower and the growth was the highest achieved in the category of water supply, waste, and waste management.
The water supply category grew by 8.96 percent followed by the category of electricity and gas procurement which grew 8.42 percent and the transportation and warehousing by 8.35 percent.
"Judging from the sources of economic growth, the large trade, retail, car and motorcycle repair categories are the highest at 0.66 percent," he said.
