Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Chairman of the Kotabaru DPRD's Commission II Abu Suwandi directly monitored the handover of the district government's assistance to 13 fishermen group from 22 villages across six sub-districts.
Abu Suwandi, who is member of National Mandate Party faction, emphasized his commitment to ensure that the government assistance was right on target and provided tangible benefits to coastal communities.
“We hope the distribution of fish catching gear (API) and related equipment to be well-targeted. This assistance must align with the Regent's priority program for the welfare of fishermen in coastal areas,” he said here on Thursday.

He informed that the assistance handed over through the Fisheries Office included 111 waring or plastic woven nets, 94 set gillnets, and trammel nets for 13 fishing groups from 22 villages in six sub-districts. The assistance was symbolically handed over at the Kotabaru Agriculture Office.
The assistance funded by the 2025 budget (APBD) is intended to boost productivity and welfare of the local fisherment.
Abu Suwandi expressed his appreciation for the Regent's program prioritizing fisheries sector as an effort to accelerate the coastal economy. he hopes the process of distribution to follow the needs in the area.
He also emphasized that DPRD will oversee the distribution so as not to be misused.

Meanwhile, Head of Kotabaru Fisheries Office throgh Head of Fishing Division Tony Ahmadi, said that the assistance will be distributed in stages, following the needs of each sub-district.
He emphasized that the fishing gear assistance is part of the local government's commitment to increase the catchand economy of fishermen.
Through this program, Kotabaru Regent again displaying his consistent support for fisheries sector as one of the driving force of the regional economy. The similar assistance is expected to continue in the next years.
