Jakarta (ANTARA) - The industrial sector is playing an important role in supporting economic growth as the world recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto has said.
"Sustainability and resilience of economic recovery can only be achieved by strengthening a country's production capability," he noted at the “International Conference On Eco-Industrial Parks, A Road To G20 Event” here on Tuesday.
Therefore, he said, the Indonesian G20 Presidency supports an inclusive and sustainable industry in line with global economic recovery.
This goal can be achieved by applying the principles of eco-industrial parks to ensure the resilience of the production process, promote sustainable economic recovery, and cope with future shocks.

In addition, the post-pandemic transition will bring several challenges when it comes to achieving social inclusion and equal access to advanced technology.
Hartarto said he believes that international cooperation will be vital for overcoming those challenges, especially for increasing the benefits of an accelerated transition and promoting sustainable economic growth.
"The Indonesian G20 Presidency will encourage global investor confidence to support the acceleration of national economic recovery. Indonesia will use this momentum to deliver the aspirations and interests of developing countries for a more equal and profitable order," he emphasized.

In particular, Indonesia will strengthen international solidarity to tackle climate change and promote more sustainable development through the application of the principles of eco-industrial parks.
Indonesia's Presidency of the G20 is a great momentum for business actors, particularly in the field of industrial and plantation cooperation, to participate in facilitating business meetings or business matching in a competitive ecosystem in the regional market, he said.
The minister also explained that the Indonesian government has continued to attract investment in many sectors along the value chain.
Industrial estates can take advantage of this momentum to increase business competitiveness and add value to encourage business activities.
"As directed by President Joko Widodo, Indonesia is committed to carrying out reformation by accelerating and facilitating permits issue, as well as accelerating and facilitating any new investment," he added.
