Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The Banjarmasin Education Office has proposed over 15,000 elementary school (SD) students this year to be Indonesia Smart Card (KIP) recipients.
"The data is being verified by schools, we hope there will be an addition, especially elementary school students, for KIP program this year," Head of Elementary School Development of the Education Office Nuryadi said here on Tuesday.
In 2021, approximately 15,000 SD students received the scholarship from KIP program with a budget allocation of about IDR7 billion from the central government.
"Previously in 2020 there were 9,000 SD students as recipients, then due to COVID-19 pandemic and the affected economy, the number was increased to almost 15,000. We hope it will increase again this year," said Nuryadi.
According to him, the students who entitled to this KIP program from the Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Ministry (Kemendikbud-Ristek) are those whose family are the beneficiaries of social assistance program from the central government.
"So the students whose families are the PKH (Family Hope Program) card holders and KKS (Prosperous Famiy Card), are prioritized to receive KIP," he expounded.
This, said Nuryadi, is in accordance with the Kemendikbud-Ristek's technical instruction No. 20 of 2021. Apart from these two, orphans in orphanage and children whose parents are being jailed and cannot pay for their children schooling.
"Also for children whose parent have been laid off," he said.
Children who are eligible for the KIP program are proposed through school, usually in January, March, and October.
