Kotabaru, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Mubadala Petroleum together with the Kotabaru Polytechnic and the Kotabaru Industry, Trade, and Cooperative Agency (Disperindagkop) encourage the local MSME to penetrate the national market.
"MSMEs are currently having difficulty in penetrating the national market because of concern about claims from other parties who have the same brand," said Director of Kotabaru Polytechnic M Rezki Oktavianoor on Wednesday.
The current MSMEs' product competition, he expounded, is not only about the quality but enters the realm of legality. For this reason, Polytechnic, Mubadala, and Disperindagkop colllaborate to facilitate MSME's trademark registration.
“We are very grateful the company pays attention to the development of MSMEs business. By registering the trademark for Kotabaru MSMEs they can expand outward,” he noted in a press release.
"Intellectual property rights that protect brands are inseparable part of the product,” he explained.
It is hoped that other companies will do the same to provide support to MSMEs that do not have a business brand.

Acting Head of Diskoperindag Khairil Fajri added that business brands are the driving force for local Kotabaru products to penetrate the national market.
"A good label and packaging must have a typical symbol of Kotabaru, so it can be a promotion for Kotabaru as well," he said.
Meanwhile, MSMEs in Kotabaru that are preparing to penetrate the national market include Himura Food (meatball, meatball tofu), Amplang Sa-ijaan, Tekwan Kurniasari, Junaid Handicraft, Kato7oe (sasirangan cloth), Relajarse (coffee shop) and also RK Pet Care (animal/cat care).
