Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The state-owned electricity company PLN supports the electric vehicles program in Banjarmasin City, South Kalimantan, by installing charging stations for electric vehicles (SPLU).
The first charging infrastructure, which was installed in South Banjarmasin, was officiated by Banjarmasin Mayor H Ibnu Sina, Wednesday.
"This is the first SPLU in Banjarmasin City, we appreciate PLN for supporting the electric vehicles program," said Ibnu Sina.
He said the policy of using electric vehicles by the city government is to support the central government's program in saving energy and using electric energy for transportation.
This year, Ibnu Sina said, Banjarmasin City Government has allocated the purchase of electric vehicles for the urban village heads throughout Banjarmasin.
By using battery-based electric vehicles, he said, the cost incurred is far more efficient than ordinary fuel vehicles.
"The efficiency is very, very economical. Until its full, 1 KWH for 60 kilometers costs only Rp2,000 for a round trip Banjarmasin-Banjarbaru. So it's very economical," he said.
The use of electric vehicles also supports the city government's effort to make the city air healthier.
It is zero-emission, he said, thus it supports the government's environmental friendliness program, the sustainable development program with green energy, and emission reduction.
“This all supports the Banjarmasin City program which is environmentally friendly and also in accordance with program number 7 of the SDGs, namely the 7th target related to green energy and reducing carbon emission," he said.
