Head of Tabalong Bappeda Muhammad Noor Rifani said that this cooperation is expected to facilitate research activities and the use of science and technology from both parties.
"We have signed a memorandum of understanding with ULM, as an extension of the previous agreement," Rifani said.
In addition to research, the cooperation also concerns education and community service.
ULM Deputy Rector for Planning, Cooperation, and PR Prof Yudi Firmanul Arifin appreciated the cooperation as a form of partnership between local government and the academic world which is expected to bring the greatest benefit to the community.
Especially regarding the result of research that can be applied by the local government in formulating policy.
Yudi said that the Human Development Index (IPM) of Tabalong was the third-highest in South Kalimantan, but it was accompanied by the high poverty rate.
“This phenomenon is very interesting to do research,” said Yudi. He added that currently, ULM is implementing the ‘Merdeka Belajar’ program which enables students to take lectures from anywhere.
Including the ULM breakthrough is an effort to increase the value of MSMEs in South Kalimantan who are embodied in the ULM Technology Business Incubator (IBT).
