Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (Antaranews) - South Kalimantan government would "turn" Stadium 17 Mei Banjarmasin an international standard stadium in the hope of national and international sporting events can be held in this area.
Governor Rudy Ariffin in Banjarmasin said on Friday, when the pride of South Kalimantan stadium become an international standard gym, the sports coaching in this area will also be developed.
According to Rudy, the stadium is under renovation which is expected to be completed by the end of 2014. Stadium renovation took two years, from 2013 to 2014, and are now entering the second phase of construction.
In the first phase, the construction of the stadium cost Rp18,4 billion, which include the construction of a football field, light poles and underground drainage. In the second stage, built ground water tank, athletics track, grandstand, fencing, etc., estimated to cost Rp19,2 billion.
Second Phase Project Manager, Adi, revealed there are some constraints in the second stage of the project. Among these proximity gravel football field and track athletics, especially at a corner point, feared would disrupt athletes.
"In addition, the field adjacent to the drainage also cause problems, so we propose the use of carpet grass to close it, so the drainage is under," added Adi.
Bambang Lasmono, First Stage Project Manager, said when the renovation completes it proceed with the certification process to gain eligibility assessment to held national and international sports activities.
