Banjarbaru , South Kalimantan ( Antaranews ) - Four units of steam power plant (PLTU) Asam-Asam managed by PT PLN Region South and Central Kalimantan were distrupted as a result of being struck by lightning.
General Manager of PT PLN Kalselteng Yuddy Setyo Wicaksono here on Tuesday said the lightning strike at the plant in the village of Asam - Asam, Jorong subdistrict, Tanah Laut district, occurred Tuesday at 14:26 pm.
"Lightning strikes cause disruption in the transmission circuit Asam-Asam power plant, so the operation stalled,"
said Yuddy, who drove from Banjarbaru towards the plant which is about 100 kilometers away.
He said lightning strikes did not make power plant units 1, 2, 3 and 4 were damaged, but only cause disruption in the circuit which is the source of South and Central Kalimantan electricity.
"We've send technician to fix the interference and I immediately went into the field to monitor recovery. Hopefully the power supply back to normal as soon as possible," he said.
Asam-Asam power plant is the main source of electrical power for the South and Central Kalimantan electrical system as four units of the power plant generates 240 megawatts, which supplies electricity to the two provinces.
