Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Angkasa Pura Indonesia (InJourney Airports), the management of Syamsudin Noor Banjarmasin International Airport in Banjarbaru is embracing local wisdom of South Kalimantan by decorating the airport with diamond and jukung traditional boat ornament.
"We are now highlighting the rich local wisdom of the Land of Lambung Mangkurat through architecture inspired by the shapes of diamonds and jukung boat," said the airport's General Manager Stephanus Millyas Wardana in Banjarbaru on Monday.
The diamond-and jukung-inspired architecture is evident in the sharp angles and curving lines in both the departure and arrival halls.

For passengers on domestic routes who have just arrived, a new icon bearing the name "Banua," inspired by local culture, has been installed right in the outer garden after the glass doors.
The word "Banua" uses the distinctive colors of South Kalimantan and the Banjarese language, and can serve as a new landmark for travelers.
The new arrival flow allows passengers on both domestic and international routes to meet at the same point to book land transportation and the pick-up area.
"This is certainly one of our efforts to reduce potential congestion in the arrival area for those picking up passengers," explained Millyas.
