Central Statistics Agency (BPS) noted the inflation rate in South Kalimantan, which came from the combined city of Banjarmasin and Tanjung, in May at 0.90 percent.
BPS South Kalimantan Head Diah Utami in Banjarbaru said on Monday inflation in Banjarmasin was 0.90 percent triggered by grilled fish, rice, greasy pastries, fish and sea transportation.
While inflation in the city of Tanjung which reached 0.98 percent occurred due to the increase in prices of chicken meat, sugar, kale, rice and vegetable tomatoes.
"The cumulative inflation rate in Banjarmasin City in May 2019 against December 2018 is 2.91 percent, while the cumulative inflation rate in Tanjung City is 1.61 percent," he said.
However, a number of commodities also experienced price declines in Banjarmasin with the highest share of deflation in prepaid cellphone, motorcycle, red onion, broiler chicken and chicken eggs.
Meanwhile, commodities experiencing price declines with the highest deflation share in the Tanjung include shallots, cucumbers, chicken eggs, sepat siam fish, flying fish or benggol.
The Central Statistics Agency also noted, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 81 cities experienced inflation with the highest number in Tual City 2.91 percent and the lowest in Kediri 0.05 percent.
