Dirlantas: Mudik backflow crowded but smoothly on Jalan Ahmad Yani

Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The South Kalimantan Regional Police Director of Traffic (Dirlantas) Sr. Comr. Police Muji Ediyanto assured the flow of returning Eid Al-Fitr travelers passing through Jalan Ahmad Yani, either from the direction of coastal areas of Tanah Laut and Tanah Bumbu or from the upstream area of Banua Enam (the six districts) was observed crowded but smoothly on Sunday (9/6) afternoon.

"This Sunday is predicted to be the peak of the return flow of travelers on land to the city of Banjarmasin," said Muji.

His agency also anticipated a surge in the number of vehicles passing by deploying personnel in a number of traffic jams. They were backed-up by traffic police units from the ranks of resort police.

"We make arrangements and maintain the security and order of traffic flow so there are no obstacles at the peak of this homebound (mudik) backflow," he explained.

Muji continues to appeal to motorists, both four-wheeled and two-wheeled, to always be careful on the road and obey traffic rules and follow the instructions of officers in the field.

"In the last few days, South Kalimantan has always been rained, so that the slippery road should be watched out for," he reminded.

Even due to the high rainfall in a number of areas, the roads are flooded. As happened in the village of Sebamban Lama, Sungai Danau, Satui Sub-district, Tanah Bumbu Regency, water spilled onto about 15-centimeter.

On the other hand, road users said they were happy with the presence of many police officers in regulating traffic along the current route.
