The Provincial Government of South Kalimantan through the Food Crops and Horticulture Agency distributed hundreds of packages of vegetables and fruit to people undergoing self-isolation.

Head of the agency Syamsir Rahman here on Monday said that vegetables and fruit were bought directly from farmers.

"Some vegetable and fruit, such as eggplant, banana, cucumber, hot chili pepper, and curly chili, we buy directly from farmers," he said.

So, he said, the aid has two benefits, farmers can sell their harvest more easily at a reasonable price, while residents get food for free.

The program, he said, was believed to be able to ease the burden of living for self-isolated people and farmers during the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to him, buying directly from farmers also helps control inflation.
