As many as 47 schools resumed face-to-face learning as the North Hulu Sungai (HSU) Education Office and the COVID-19 Task Force re-allowed limited face-to-face learning (PTMT) which was previously suspended.
"Some time ago we had to stop it due to the increase in positive cases of COVID-19 in HSU. After we coordinated with the Task Force it turned out that schools in the level 1-3 zone are allowed to carry out limited face-to-face learning," said the acting head of HSU Education and Culture Agency Junaidi Gunawan in Amuntai, Monday (August 30, 2021).
He said that face-to-face learning, which commenced on Monday was held by 47 schools that were considered to meet the requirement in the implementation of health protocol.
He explained that face-to-face learning was resumed on the considerations and evaluation that the implementation of online learning has so far been considered less successful in developing students.
"Online learning has a risk of reducing learning outcomes till students drop out, " he said.
Meanwhile, he continued, online learning in various regions also caused 'learning loss' which has a permanent impact, domestic violence.
HSU District was at level 3 in the handling of COVID-19 cases, thus it can only carry out face-to-face learning by 25 percent.
"Meanwhile, for regions at levels 1 and 2, they can have two lesson hours in one day and twice in a week. It means for HSU less than that amount in implementation," said Junaidi.
However, the implementation of face-to-face learning is still regulated by several rules, including the use of day shifts for PAUD (early childhood education), SD (elementary school), and SMP (junior high school) with different amount of learning hours.
"The distribution of the number of students for PAUD is five people per class, while SD and SMP 10 people," he said.
