Tanjung, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The District Government of Tabalong, South Kalimantan, collaborates with Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB) or IPB University to support the Regional Delegate Scholarship program for the next five years as well as improving the quality of human resources, especially in agriculture.
Tabalong Regent HM Noor Rifani said that the scholarship cooperation with a number of leading universities in Indonesia, including IPB, is to realize a priority program of 1,000 undergraduates scholarship.
"We target at least five Tabalong students to study at IPB in one year," said Rifani when confirmed here on Tuesday.
This educational cooperation is a form of effort to advance food and agriculture sector which requiress graduates from Tabalong itself.
The consideration is that agriculture in the northmost district in South Kalimantan Province must be developed from upstream to downstream supported by innovation and technology, including quality human resources.
Tabalong chose IPB to produce quality bachelors in food sector, because based on the World University Record, IPB is ranked first in Southeast Asia for universities in the field of agriculture and maritime.
In addition to collaboration in the educational scholarship, Tabalong Regent also explores the development of innovation in agrilculture, plantation, and fisheries.
Meanwhile, IPB Deputy Rector for Research, Innovation and Agromaritime Development Professor Ernan Rustiadi welcomed the cooperation in education scholarship with Tabalong government.
This is because the world's food needs are increasing and day by day are very dynamic.
"We would like to thank Tabalong Regent for his trust in IPB to educate sons and daughters of Tabalong," said the professor.
