The Governor of South Kalimantan Sahbirin Noor, after being inaugurated with Deputy Governor H Muhidin by President Joko Widodo at the State Palace in Jakarta Wednesday (August 25, 2021), said that he would immediately work with a focus on efforts on handling COVID-19 infection and economic recovery.
"We will work hand in hand and synergize with all government agencies, districts, and cities heads with the main focus on accelerating COVID-19 handling and people's economic recovery," said the Governor who is familiarly called Uncle Birin.
In future development programs preparation, his government will prioritize sectors that have a direct impact on the community, such as agriculture, plantation, infrastructure, improving MSMEs, and others.
Uncle Birin, who was accompanied by Deputy Governor H Muhidin, said that cases of COVID-19 transmission in the province are still high.
In addition to dealing with COVID-19, another development goal is to make South Kalimantan a strategic area with the establishment of the state capital in East Kalimantan.
As the gateway to the state capital, South Kalimantan will receive a significant impact on the development in various sectors and the welfare of society.
Meanwhile, Sahbirin-Muhidin's mission is to improve the quality and competitiveness of human resources, promote equitable economic growth, and strengthen basic infrastructure and economy.
Governances to focus on public services and strengthening environment and disaster resilience.
Sahbirin Noor-Muhidin also plans to develop new economic areas to support the new nation's capital, improve connectivity in economic growth areas, fulfill infrastructure supporting the economy, and providing renewable energy sources.
Previously, President Joko Widodo inaugurated the elected Governor and Deputy Governor of South Kalimantan Sahbihin Noor and Muhidin.
The inauguration at the State Palace took place solemnly by implementing strict health protocols. It was attended by Coordinating Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Minister Mahfud MD, Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian, and Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung.
Also present from the family Hj Raudatul Jannah Sahbirin Noor and Hj Fathul Jannah Muhidin. Meanwhile, from the provincial government were DPRD Speaker H Supian HK and the Regional Secretary Roy Rizali Anwar.
