The special committee also highlighted the potential for private companies to be involved in helping distribute water to the surrounding community.
This is considered relevant to the condition in Kotabaru, where several companies have taken water from village sources for industrial purposes.
“If the management is legal and does not interfere with the availability for the community, cooperation like this can be used to support clean water access to villages,” he said.
The special committee emphasized that water management must be conducted with integrative approach and based on synergy between parties.
“We want this draft regulation not to only focus on technical arrangements, but to open space for cooperation because water issues are not only a matter of one region. They must be cross-regional and cross-sectoral,” concluded Sahrani.
