Marabahan, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - The Ministry of Agriculture has again conducted a trial to optimize land use in Jejangkit Village which was opened after World Food Day for three harvests.
Ministry of Agriculture's Director of Expansion and Land Protection Indah Megawati while reviewing the land in Jejangkit Village, Barito Kuala, Wednesday, said that from Thursday (13/12) the 101 Antasari Military Command's team would again manage the land.
According to her, farmers have not yet confidently managed 240 hectares of land, which had previously been harvested during WFD. They are still hesitant and worried about failing, given the condition of the land submerged due to rain.
During WFD the condition of the land was dry because it was in the dry season. Now because of the rain, the land becomes submerged.
"The minister hopes that the land in Jejangkit can be harvested three times, both during the dry season and in the rainy season, it can still be planted," she continued.
Indah Megawati said her party was trying to meet the agricultural technology needed to optimize the land, including pumping machines.
In this planting season, she said, the government will plant superior types of rice, which are expected to harvest in March 2019.
"After the WFD, the condition of the land is well maintained. I am optimistic that the optimization of this land will work well," she said.
