Tanjung, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Padang Panjang village-owned enterprise (BUMDes) continues to show its role in exploring and managing local potential through various business units, one of which is in tourism.
Thanks to assistance from PT Adaro Indonesia's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, the BUMDes has succeeded in developing Menanti Laburan Tourism Park in Padang Panjang Village, Tabalong District, South Kalimantan, to become one of leading destination in the region.
Developed since 2019, the attraction stands on 5.1 hectares land swap, which is a village asset.
The attraction continues to improve since it was officially opened in 2020, adding various facilities such as children playground, flying fox rides, and water ducks, making it a favorite recreational destination for the surrounding community.

Director of Padang Panjang BUMDES Sokhidin said that Menanti Laburan attraction is one of the leading businesses of various business units run by the BUMDes.
"The development of the attraction also received support from PT Adaro Indonesia's CSR program, including assistance in the form of mini Water Treatment Plant and tilapia fish seeds," he said, Monday.
The assistance became part of wetland management program in the post-mining lake area, while also encouraging improvement of village economy through tourism and fisheries sector.
PT Adaro Indonesia's support was not only in physical. Assistance in the form of training, advocacy, and community empowerment continues to strengthen the institutional capacity of the village.
CSR Section Head of PT Adaro Indonesia Yuri Budhi Sujalmi insisted the importance of collaboration and enthusiasm of residents in developing the village.
"As a ring 1 village, Padang Panjang has a great potential, both physically and socially. With a strong collaboration, this village is able to move towards independence," he explained.
The success of managing Menanti Laburan attraction led Padang Panjang BUMDes to be the national top five in the BRIlian 2024 village competition, held by PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia Tbk.
Now that Menanti Laburan is not only a recreational space, but a source of village income that supports various social activities and physical development in Padang Panjang.
The spirit of gotong royong of the residents and their strong sense of belonging are they keys to the success of this tourism park as a symbol of village revival.
