Pelaihari, South Kalimantan 6/10 (AntaranewsKalsel) - The Government of Tanah Laut District is targeting to plant 9,000 hectares of soybean in the 2017 planting season.
"Tanah Laut targets to plant 9,000 hectares of soybean, while South Kalimantan is targeting 27,000 hectares," said Head of the Horticultural Crops and Plantation Ahmad Mustadi in Pelaihari on Friday.
Planting soybean in the planting season of 2017 has been launched in 20 provinces all over Indonesia.
Particularly in South Kalimantan, the provincial government focuses on soybean cultivation in the Tanah Laut, since the district is a national target for soybean planting in the province.
As a form of the seriousness of the program, the Ministry of Agriculture has provided soybean seeds which symbolically submitted by the Agro-Industry Expert Staff of the Ministry of Agriculture Gardjita Budi to farmer groups.
Secretary of Tanah Laut Syahrian Nurdin said that the development of soybean in Tanah Laut is expected to contribute to fulfill national soybean production.
The development of soybean crop in Tanah Laut is directed through the intercropping pattern, considering that in the district has been developing corn cultivation for a long time.
