Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Chairman of the Kotabaru DPRD's Commission II Awaludin said that Singapore - Indonesia Youth Leaders Exchange Programme (SIYLEP) is a chance to promote local culture.
Previously, the Indonesian Youth and Sports Ministry (Kemenpora) had chosen Kotabaru District, South Kalimantan Province, for the place to hold youth exchange between the two countries.
"This is an opportunity for other country and youth from other provinces to see (our) local culture," said Awaludin in Kotabaru, Thursday.
According to him, this activity could be a concept for young people in Kotabaru to learn from young people from other country so that interaction is established from various cultures, languages and so on.
"Hopefully the youth of Kotabaru to become representative of South Kalimantan or Indonesia for inter-country youth exchange," he said.

He said 514 districts and cities registered, but Kotabaru was chosen to host the activity which lasted for five days.
Sonny said that participants received material about palm oil waste processing and the use of marine products on the first day, then on the second day they learned about reef conservation in fishing village with Sahabat Laut, which is fostered by PT Arutmin NPLCT.
