Kandangan, South Kalimantan (ANTARA) - South Hulu Sungai (HSS) contingent won the overall champion of the South Kalimantan Special Olympics Indonesia Regional Sport Week (Pesoda SOIna) 2024 by winning 12 gold medals.
The medals collected by the host contingent consisted of 12 gold medals, eight silver medals, and seven brone medals.
"This success shows the hard work, dedication, and the fighting spirit of our athletes as well as the full support of the regional government and HSS community," said Head of HSS Youth, Sports, and Tourism Agency Heri Utomo, citing a press release from the HSS Diskominfo (Communication and Informatics Agency), Tuesday.
He said HSS Pesoda SOIna contingent has not only brought pride to the athletes and their coaches, but also to the entire people in the district.
The agency on behalf of the government is committed to continuing to support sport development for SOIna athletes in HSS, to produce many more outstanding athletes in the future.
The 2024 South Kalimantan PeSOda was attended by 13 districts and cities, with 216 athletes, 143 coaches and assistants.
Head of South Kalimantan Board of SOIna Mudiyono announced that HSS won the first place in bagging medals, followed by Banjarmasin City in second place and Tabalong the third place.
Then, Tanah Laut ranked fifth, Banjarbaru sixth, Kotabaru seventh, and Central Hulu Sungai eighth.
The North Hulu Sungai contingent was in the ninth place, Balangan tenth, Barito Kuala eleventh, Tanah Bumbu twelfth, and finally Tapin ranked thirtheenth.
