The verdict was read out by Judge Syamsuni at the Kandangan District Court in South Hulu Sungai District, South Kalimanan on Thursday.
Muhammad Hasbi (55), father of the victim, said he was relieved and satisfied with the verdict.
"Our fight for justice has been paid. We had gone to the district court of Kandangan many times to seek justice over the death of Aisyah," Hasbi said.
His wife had to be hospitalized twice for trauma following the tragic death of their daughter.
The verdict was tougher than the 20-year imprisonment and a fine of Rp3 billion demanded by prosecutors.
Judge Syamsuni said that Marzuki was proven guilty of raping and murdering the girl, and he did not show any regret for his crime.
Meanwhile, in response to the rampant cases of sexual assaults against children, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) on May 25, 2016, signed a government regulation, brought in lieu of law (Perppu) Number 1 of 2016 on child protection.
"This Perppu is aimed at dealing with an emergency situation caused by the increasing number of cases of sexual violence against children," Jokowi observed.
He explained that Perppu Number 1/2016 will regulate the increased sentences, as well as other measures for perpetrators of sexual violence against children, and cases of child molestation, based on certain conditions.
"These crimes have undermined the development of children and have disturbed our sense of peace, security and public order. We will handle it in an extraordinary way," he added.
The increased sentence includes an additional one third of a sentence for criminal charges, death penalty, or life imprisonment; or a jail sentence, with a minimum of 10 years and a maximum of 20 years in jail.
