Kandangan, South Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Regent of South Hulu Sungai (HSS) District H Achmad Fikry was awarded by the Indonesian Islamic Health Efforts Council (MUKISI) as the Pioneer of Sharia-based Regional General Hospital (RSUD Syariah).
The award, presented at the 5th International Islamic Healthcare Conference and Expo (IHEX), was bestowed on the basis that the Regional General Hospital (RSUD) of Brigjend H Hasan Basry Kandangan, owned by the government of HSS, was one of two Sharia-based Regional General Hospital in Indonesia.
Indonesian Vice President Ma'ruf Amin welcomed the 5th IHEX in Tanggerang, Banten, Friday, which was held along with the launch of first sharia clinic and laboratory in Indonesia.
This breakthrough, he said, was in response to the increasing public interest and need to access sharia health services. The sharia clinic and laboratory are expected to provide fast, easy, and quality services in accordance with sharia.
"This development does not only cover sharia hospitals but also sharia health service ecosystems, including pharmaceuticals, medical devices, halal food, and beverages," he remarked virtually from Jakarta.

Vice President Amin also emphasized that the sharia health industry should be equipped with supporting services that also prioritize sharia values, such as human resources with sharia competence, sharia financing, and other supporting services that comply with halal standards.
The 5th IHEX took place from 25 to 27 August 2023 with the theme "Islamic Finance X Syariah Hospital Chain". IHEX this year is aimed for collaboration with various parties, especially in the field of sharia-based financial services.
