Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Eight Balangan disabled athletes, who are members of the National Paralympic Committee (NPC) Indonesia athletes called for regional training before being deployed to the 2016 National Paralympic Games (Peparnas) in Bandung, West Java, on October 15 to 25.
Patron of NPC Balangan athletes doctor Ferry to AntaranewsKalsel here on Monday said the eight athletes are now in intensive training in order to excel the good name of South Kalimantan in Peparnas.
The eight athletes are Rahmat Rijali from Inan village, Aimah with origin Tebing Tinggi, Dian Sukma from Halong. These three athletes playing in swimming.
Then Kaspul Anwar of Awayan and Inas from Paringin take part in sitting volleyball sport, Supriyadi of Juai and M Zaky whose origin Batu Mandi play in badminton. While Tebing Tinggi athlete Aripudin plays in goal ball sort of sitting volleyball.
Goal ball is played by three, who in turn put the ball into the opponent's goal, with the pitch with their hands. The game played by blind ahtletes.
Doctor Ferry hope these eight athletes from Balangan are really serious in training now underway in Banjarbaru, so that they could bring the well name of South Kalimantan.
One athlete of Balangan mainstay in the national arena is Ahmad Rijali, a swimmer. He won one silver and two bronze medals in the 2014 Asean Para Games and in 2013 Southeast Asian Disabilities Games in 50 meters backstroke class S8.
The gold medalist of the National Paralympic Game of class S8 in 100m backstroke, silver medalists in 2014 ASEAN Para Games 50 meter backstroke and a bronze medal in 2014 ASEAN Para Games 100 meter freestyle.
Ahmad Rijali himself when asked expressed optimism to win medal in Peparnas, as experiences taught him a national event is predictable the people who can win a medal, especially in certain numbers.
He himself admitted to intensive training under coach Djuhrianor in the Hasanuddin HM Youth Center Banjarmasin pool. He therefore asks prayer of the whole community of South Kalimantan for athletes of Balangan to bring back the good name of South Kalimantan.
The Balangan eight athletes will join the NPC athletes South Kalimantan, with the majority of Banjarmasin and Banjarbaru.
