Barabai, South Kalimantan (ANTARA) - A team from the government of Central Hulu Sungai (HST) District, South Kalimantan, had carried out a nature expedition by traveling 10 days walking trip to remote villages.
The expedition titled "Meratus Expedition 2023" was for community service by involving 32 people took place July 10-19, 2023.
"The expedition team carried out services in the form of coaching and health services in remote areas," said HST Regent Aulia Oktafiandi in a press statement in Barabai, Thursday.
The Meratus expedition involved representatives of several agencies, including the Environment and Transportation Office, Social Affairs Office, the Public Housing and
Residential Areas Office, Satpol PP, Communication and Informatics Office, Batang Alai Timur Sub-district, Batang Alai Timur Agriculture Counseling Center and Tandilang Community Health Center.
Aulia said the team's journey started from the Barabai Sub-distric and ending in Banian Village, Sungai Durian Sub-district, Kotabaru District.
He revealed that the team also visited several customary houses during the trip. They provided best services.
"The community was enthusiastic about the arrival of the expedition team, they established good relations," he said.
The 2023 Meratus expedition was led by the Head of Batang Alai Timur Sub-district Misradi. Before carrying out the trip the team were given direction by acting District Secretary of HST Ainur Rofiq.
On the first day, the team departed from Hinas Kiri Village walked to Batu Perahu Village covering the distance of 11.5 kilometers for approximately 4 to 6 hours.
After doing community service in the village, the team continued to Aing Bantai Village by walking for 8-10 hours. It was a tiring journey with uphill terrain conditions to arrive at the peak of 1,147 meters above sea level.
The team carried out coaching and health services for two days here.
The next destination is Mangga Jaya Village by walking 8-12 hours. The team did not stop traversing the terrain with muddy soil conditions, crossing many rivers, pumped adrenaline.
During the trip to Mangga Jaya Village they found amount of trees collapsed and landslide roads eroded by the heavy rains.
Arriving at Mangga Jaya Village, the residents were very enthusiastic welcoming the arrival of the Meratus Expedition team.
The team ended the dedication trip by walking for about 11-12 hours to the pick-up point at Kotabaru Regency.
The trip from Kotabaru took the route from the area mostly of East Kalimantan Province before finally returning to Barabai, Central Hulu Sungai District.
"The whole team succeeded in carrying out the dedication mission to a remote village, they returned safely," said Aulia.
