Batulicin, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The Legislative Council (DPRD) of Tanah Bumbu, South Kalimantan, is currently monitoring the progress of Pulau Laut bridge contruction that will connect Kotabaru and Batulicin in Tanah Bumbu.
"We want to ensure that the construction of the bridge is according to plan, on time, and of good quality," Deputy Speaker of Tanah Bumbu DPRD H. Hasanuddin said here on Tuesday.
He informed that the district government has allocated Rp100 billion from its regional budget (APBD) for the bridge.
The Tanah Bumbu government is actively involved in the project of the bridge to connect Kotabaru island and Batulicin in the mainland, including land acquisition.

"The local government is fully responsible for the land acquisition process required for the bridge construction on the Tanah Bumbu side," he said.
The contruction of the bridge is jointly funded by the Provincial Government of South Kalimantan, Kotabaru government and Tanah Bumbu government.
Head of Bina Marga of the Tanah Bumbu Public Works and Spatial Planning Office (PUPR) M Ramdhan explained that the bridge construction is scheduled for completion in 2028.
"The main obstacle during the construction process was hard rock in the area to install the bridge foundation. As a result the piling work took quite a long time," he said.
Previously, South Kalimantan Governor H Muhidin was targeting the construction of Pulau Laut Bridge to be completed in three years.

The Governor made his statement when accompanying Minister of Environment (LH) Hanif Faisol Nurofiq inspecting the construction of Pulau Laut Bridge project in Tanjung Serdang, Salino Village, Pulau Laut Tengah Sub-district, Kotabaru, Wednesday (January 2, 2025).
Muhidin said that this strategic road and bridge infrastructure connecting Tanah Bumbu District and Kotabaru District was proposed as a National Strategic Project (PSN).
The bridge connecting Batulicin-Kotabaru is planned to have a span of 3.75 kilometers.
The initial work on Pulau Laut Bridge includes building foundation, which have been completed for 400 meters out of a total of 750 meters, leaving 350 meters remaining.
