Banjarmasin, S Kalimatan (ANTARA) - Governor of South Kalimantan H Sahbirin Noor handed over assistance to repair 540 houses of flood victims and unhabitable houses spread across 13 districts and cities, Saturday.
Mursyidah Aminy, Head of Public Housing and Settlement Area Office of South Kalimantan, here said that the aid is divided into two. First, house renovation funding for as many as 260 flood victims families.
It is distributed in five districts, namely Banjar District 125 units, Central Hulu Sungai 25 units, Balangan 5 units, Barito Kuala 75 units and Tanah Laut 30 units.
Second, she said, for improving quality of uninhabitable houses (PK-RTLH) for as many as 280 houses of poor families.
"This aid is alloted in 13 districts and cities, each house receive financial assistance of Rp20 million," she said.
Rp17.5 million of the fund for the procurement of building materials and Rp2.5 million for wages of builders.
Governor H Sahbirin Noor, who is familiarly known as Uncle Birin, stated that this assistance is a form of the government's presence in the midst of society.
“This assistance comes from APBD (the provincial government budget) which is actually from bubuhan pian (you) who pay vehicle tax and others, so it is from people for the people," he pointed out.
Uncle Birin also asked his staff to increase the assistance for people so they have livable homes.
"I ask Perkim (Housing and Settlement) Office to increase it again, because there are still our people who need help like this," Governor said.
