Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (ANTARA) - As many as 198 villages and urban villages in Kotabaru District, South Kalimantan, became Kampung Keluarga Berkualitas (Quality Family Villages) after they were inaugurated by the Head of the National Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN) Hasto Wardoyo in the Gunung Meranti attraction in Sebelimbingan, Kotabaru.
"I am optimistic human resources in Kotabaru will develop well, especially with the existance of companies and the Healthy Kitchen Movement (Dashat) to stem stunting to bolster the path to Quality Family Villages," said Hasto Wardoyo here on Wednesday, May 17, 2023.
The program, Hasto said, is part of the right strategy and action plan to reduce stunting prevalencce in Kotabaru beginning from assisting prospective brides, pregnant women, and postpartum.
Faster leverage is needed by escorting and providing certainty for every bride and groom, especially mothers-to-be, to get good nutrition and assistance for pregnant women by midwives.
“BKKBN cannot work alone, but must involve institutions to jointly work together to achieve predetermined targets," he said.
The head of BKKBN thanked the Kotabaru Regent for Kotabaru being the pioneer in Family Planning Village lauching, and Kotabaru was the first district to inaugurate Quality Family Village.
Meanwhile, Regent of Kotabaru Sayed Jafar invited all stakeholders to collaborate in effort to reduce stunting.
"I invite all stakeholders to improve coordination and strengthen collaboration so that Quality Family Village and Dashat program to make the target to reduce stuntung rate in Kotabaru to 13.24 percent by 2024 be realizied according to our mutual expectation," Sayed Jafar pointed out.
Kotabaru still has a lot of homework to do to reduce the pravelence of stunting. Based on SSGI in 2021 the pravelence was 21.8 percent and is targeted to be reduced to 13.24 percent by 2024.
"Kotabaru has reduced the number of stunting in 2021 from 41 villages to 31 villages and in 2022 (the number) was 24 villages," said Sayed.
