Banjarmasin, S Kalimatan (ANTARA) - Vice President Ma’ruf Amin urges the South Kalimantan Provincial Government to accelerate halal certification, especially for local products.
“For the development of halal industry, I ask for halal certification acceleration to be prioritized, both for slaughterhouses as well as MSMEs,” said VP when opening South Kalimantan National Halal Fair 2023 in Banjarmasin, Tuesday.
VP said to have obtained data that 23,000 food and beverage products registered at the South Kalimantan Industry Office, but only 2,000 products are halal certified.
Amin said, certification of halal products is a step to develop sharia economy and finance.

VP is optimistic that South Kalimantan with 97 percent of its population being Muslim, would become the main hub for development of the national sharia economy and finance.
He hopes that people's literacy toward the sharia economy and finance to grow rapidly.
In developing the sharia economy and finance, VP said there are four areas that become the focus of the state.
“They are halal product industry, finance service industry, sharia social fund, sharia business and entrepreneurship,” he expounded.
Meanwhile, Governor of South Kalimantan Sahbirin Noor welcomed VP Ma’ruf Amin directions.
“We are honored by the presence of Vice President, we always receive and waiting for direction for the regional progress of South Kalimantan,” he said.
