Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Acute respiratory ailment (ISPA) keeps attacking Banjarmasin residents due to dusty air and smog.
Head of the local health office dr Diah here on Sunday acknowledged that many citizens who came to the community health center because of pains breathing were above five thousand patients per month until August.
A total of 26 community health centers in Banjarmasin have served many patients with respiratory infection cases. This occured from January to July which showed a very high case.
Diah said, from January 6415 recorded cases of ISPA, February 10,616 cases, in March 7,739 caseS, 7530 caseS in April, then in May 8,381 cases, in June 6,777, and in July 5,884 cases.
"While (ISPA cases in the month of) August and September is still being recorded, it is likely higher than the previous months, because smog from forest fires already started to hit this area," she said.
According to her, though it happened many cases of respiratory infections, but estimates of ISPA cases per month of approximately 40 thousand (40% to 60% of patient visits in health centers). Thus, the incidence of ISPA is still under-estimate the incidence of cases per month.
Diah affirmed, an effort that Health Agency has been carried out with 26 community health centers are the activities of promotion, prevention, early detection increases of ISPA cases in health centers.
