Martapura, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - A total of 425 inmates of Special Child Guiding Institute (LPKA) Martapura, South Kalimantan, proposed to receive a sentence reduction or remission.
"Hundreds of inmates had been proposed receiving remission in Independence Day," said Head of LPKA Martapura Lenggono Budi here on Wednesday.
He said the number of prisoners remission recipients could be increased or reduced because of its proposal, so any decision waiting for authorities' approval.
"We only propose and the number of recipients inmates could be increased or reduced. The decision at the latest on August 16, 2015," he said.
According to him, remission divided into two, namely a decade remission and a general remission. Decade Remission is reduction of sentence once in ten years, while general remission generally accepted to coincide Independence Day on 17 August.
"A decree for decade remission signed by the Director General of Correctional Ministry of Law and Human Rights and a general remission signed by Head of South Kalimantan office of Law and Human Rights Ministry," he said.
In addition, there is also special remission granted to each prisoner with conditions regulated by law.
Sentences reduced on a special remission at least 15 days and a maximum of two months, the general remission at least one month and a maximum of six months.
"For the reduction of sentenced to recipient of the decade remission one-twelfth times of sentence and a maximum of three months," he said.
Among the hundreds of prisoners recipients of three types of remission, seven people have served their sentences so they can be free.
"The liberation of the seven prisoners because their sentences reduced to coincide with the expiration of the detention, so that they can immediately be free," he said.
