Pelaihari, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Regent HM Sukamta said that the divorce rate is very high in the Tanah Laut District one of the causes is underage marriage.
Responding to this, he said, the Tanah Laut District Government made an agreement with religious counselors and the head of the Religious Affairs Office (KUA) to provide understanding to the community and parents not to allow underage marriage.
"Hopefully we can press the underage marriage as low as possible, so when they enter the marriage age they can be ready and mature. Families are built to be healthy and strong to bring up resilient generation in the future," said Sukamta.
The signing of the agreement between the District Government of Tanah Laut with the district office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs on the prevention of underage marriage and domestic abuse took place at the regent office on Wednesday (March 31, 2021).
Tanah Laut government, he said, also deployed a team of psychologists and a child protection team to villages with high case intensity.
Head of Tanah Laut Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs HM Rusdi Hilmi said that his party provided socialization and counseling to parents so they could pay attention and consider properly, thus the underage marriage not to occur.
