Bandung, W Java (ANTARA) - West Java Governor M Ridwan Kamil said integrating living, working, and playing spaces would be essential to the development of the Subang Smartpolitan Integrated Industrial Zone.
"I would love to see that in the future we design a city that always has three key factors, namely live, work, and play in an integrated area," said Governor Kamil while delivering his speech virtually at the Subang Smartpolitan groundbreaking ceremony on Wednesday.
The West Java Governor, who is also known as Kang Emil, said the Subang Smartpolitan groundbreaking ceremony was a historic event since all related stakeholders were diligently preparing for the development of the integrated city, which would serve as a benchmark for development in the province.
According to the governor, integration of living, work, and play spaces in new city development is a must.
"It has been proven that if we only design a place for working, then people still have to live far away from their workplace -- or vice versa -- it will result in commuting costs. Therefore, we emphasized that an integrated concept of living, working, and playing in one area is a must," he remarked.
He further said that the West Java provincial government will continuously support and ensure the success of Subang Smartpolitan development through assistance in marketing, building bridges with investors, and regulations, among other things.
In addition, Kamil said he would also contribute to the Subang Smartpolitan landmark design, which is expected to be built first to entice people to settle there.
He said he hopes Subang Smartpolitan will be a pioneer of successful development of new integrated cities in West Java.
“Hopefully, in the next 10 to 20 years, we will harvest what we have been working on today," Kamil remarked. (INE)
