The city government of Banjarmasin distributed hundreds of food packages along with cash to elderly citizens as they commemorate the 2020 National Elderly Day (HLUN) at the South Banjarmasin Sub-district office, Tuesday.
Symbolically the food packages were handed over by Mayor H Ibnu Sina accompanied by Head of Social Office Iwan Ristrianto and Head of South Banjarmasin Sub-district M Yusrin.
Ibnu Sina said the food packages were handed over to the representatives of the elderly to avoid crowds of residents and to comply with COVID-19 health protocol. "Symbolically to only 20 people, (to represent) all 150 recipients," he said.
According to him, all the recipients were elderly who were registered with the city's Social Office and did not receive COVID-19 compensation. "There are still many other programs to be accepted by the elderly," he said.
He hoped the assistance delivered were right on target and could help with their daily needs. "Hopefully at a no longer young age you are all still healthy and get a blessing," he concluded.
