Tanjung, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Regent of Tabalong Haji Anang Syakhfiani is making his effort to extend flights in Warukin Airport in Muruk Pudak.
"We want this only airport in Tabalong to be more beneficial for the people, it will no more be a special but a general airport later," he remarked when he received Chief of South Kalimantan Bureau of Antaranews Agency Nurul Aulia Badar in his office in Tanjung, Monday (Jan 20, 2020).
Warukin, he said, has a big potential as the airport to accommodate passengers from Balangan, North Hulu Sungai (HSU) in South Kalimantan, and Barito Timur in Central Kalimantan.
It will later not only to serve flight to Jakarta, as it is now, but to extend to Surabaya, Balikpapan, and Banjarmasin.
"Even if any flight company interested to open flight destinations to other regions, we are pleased to welcome," he said.
The company that has been known to serve flights in the airport is PT Pelita Air Service using ATR 72 aircraft.
Warukin Airport lies in Warukin, Tanta, Tabalong, South Kalimantan, with a length of runway 1.400 meters. It is planned to be extended and widened to be 2.100 x 45 meters, with a concrete surface.
