Martapura, S Kalimatan (ANTARA) - The Regent of Banjar, South Kalimantan, H Saidi Mansyur visited residents' homes, while distributing aid to flood-affected residents in the Keraton neighborhood, Martapura sub-district, Friday afternoon.

500 packages of basic food were distributed as a form of the local government's concern for its residents affected by flood.

Regent H Saidi Mansyur here on Friday said his government strives to be always present among the community, especially during disasters.

He appreciated the role of volunteers who helped distributed aid to various areas affected by flood in this district (regency).

“Alhamdulillah, we able to directly assess the condition of our residents affected by the flood. Over a few days, I with  the team and volunteers have been visiting the flooded areas to distribute assistance. Hopefully, the floodwaters will recede quickly,” said the Regent.

The Banjar Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) reported that 6,593 families (KK), comprising 18,348 residents, were affected by the floods, and 302 residents took refuge, due to heavy rainfall, as of Sunday.
