Banjarbaru, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) for Syamsudin Noor Banjarmasin Meteorology Station announced that local rain in South Kalimantan has so far decreased hotspots.
"Local rain is foreseen to still occur in several days ahead in almost all area in South Kalimantan," said forecaster staff of the station Muhammad Shaaimul Qadri in Banjarbaru, Saturday (Sept 28, 2019).
Shaaimul said the local rain phenomenon defined as rain falls in certain areas or uneven rain. For South Kalimantan at this time it happen at noon till afternoon.
"The patterns of local rain have the opposite characteristics of the monsoonal one. When the monsoonal rainy areas experience rainy season, the areas with local rain experience dry season and it is currently happening in South Kalimantan," he said.
However, he reminded, people still need to be aware of the potential of moderate to heavy rain that can be accompanied by ligthning and strong wind.
Meanwhile, the rain falls did not all at once make the distribution of hotspots to dissappear all. From the monitoring of Terra, Aqua dan Suomi NPP sattelite as quoted by BMKG, on Saturday afternoon 61 hotspot have been detected, increased from the morning condition with only three hotspots.
The distribution was found in the districts of Banjar, Tapin, South Hulu Sungai, Balangan, Tanah Laut, Tanah Bumbu, and Kotabaru.
But beware of ease of burning land in Banjarbaru, Banjar, and Tanah Laut, Shaaimul warned.
