Kotabaru, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Hundreds of family heads in three villages in Hampang Subdistrict, Kotabaru Regency, received solar home lighting (SHS) lamps as assistance from the government.
The aid was handed over symbolically by Kotabaru Regent Sayed Jafar during his working visit to Limbungan Village, Hampang Sub-district, on Monday.
The solar home system is intended for people in remote areas whose access is difficult thus the electricity grid has not yet been reached.
However, the Regent asserted that does not mean the government will not seek electricity networks to remote areas after the assistance.
"The community should not be misconstrued with this assistance, because many people think that if it has been assisted with solar lights, it means that the area will not be electrified and only assisted with it," said the Regent.
The three villages that received solar lamp lighting in the Hampang were 335 units in Muara Uri Village, 101 units in Limbur Village and 75 units in Hulu Sampanahan Village.
