A number of sub-districts in Kotabaru, especially those in the mainland of Kalimantan, including Sungaidurian, Sengayam, and their surrounding, which so far have enjoyed 12 hours of electricity, will soon enjoy it for 24 hours every day.

Thus Kotabaru Regent H Sayed Jafar was speaking on the sideline of witnessing the signing of MoU between PT PLN for South and CentralKalimantan and PT Sumber Daya Energi (SDE)/Qinfa Group in Banjarbaru, Tuesday.

He said, this MoU was related to the providing of electricity by PT SDE, which will affect the sub-district of Sungaidurian and its surroundings.

On behalf of the Kotabaru government, he welcomed it. This is because the addition of an electricity network will have a positive impact on Kotabaru District.

"We will benefit, because of the investment, the electricity network from East Kalimantan will enter our region," Sayed Jafar pointed out.

Besides, he continued, several areas would be positively impacted by the entry of the electricity network, including Sengayam and Sungaidurian.

"Preparation for network expansion have already begun. Local government will be involved in land acquisition, for example the network poles entering the land of residents of a company. Well, that will be local government to help the acquisition," he explained.

When it eventually operational, the subdistricts that previously only enjoy 12 hours of electricity will receive it for 24 hours, because they no longer use PLTD. "Incuding in Sebuku Island the network is being built," he said.

Appearing at the event was the Speaker of Kotabaru DPRD Syairi Mukhlis and Regional Secretary H Said Akhmad.
