Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The Legisative Council Deputy Speaker of Kotabaru, South Kalimantan, Awaluddin supported the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) effort to find early age badminton athletes through the "Bupati Cup" (Regent Cup) tournament in the district.
"We support Tourism, Youth and Sports Office (Disparpora) and PBSI scouting early age athletes through this event," said Awaludin at the tournament contested at the Bamega indoor sport building (GOR) in Pulau Laut Utara Sub-district, Kotabaru, Tuesday.

Such scouting, he said, should be held periodically and is possible to hold in every three months with similar tournament thus it produces superior seeds in badminton.
Activities such as tournament, championship, or special events can be a place for young players to show their abilities and be identified as potential talents.
"Many talented athletes from early age have been born through tournament like this in Kotabaru," he said.
The Chairman of the district's National Mandate Party also gave his appreciation to the Tourism, Youth and Sports Office and PBSI Kotabaru for organizing the event.
In addition, he said, coaching at the club level in each region should also supports the search for talented seeds from local badminton clubs to foster the next generation to become professional athletes.
