Batulicin, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - A resident of Bunati Village, Angsana Sub-District, Tanah Bumbu, South Kalimantan, develops kelulut (stingless bee) honey farms with the assistance of PT Borneo Indo Bara (BIB).
Representative from PT BIB, Adrianus Darmawan, in Batulicin, said there were 30 honey bee seeds as assistance to the honey bee culture group in the Bunati Village.
"This is part of the PT BIB Community Empowerment Program (PPM) to increase the economic independence of rural communities," he said.
Through this kelulut honey bee cultivation the company hopes this business will become a sustainable effort to sustain their economic needs.
The consideration of cultivating kelulut honey is because the price of theready for harvest honey is very promising.
At present the price reaches Rp1 million per liter. This business is expected to continue to grow and Bunati Village will become a pilot for honey bee cultivation for other villages.
Bunati Village Secretary Sadikin expressed his gratitude to the company for fostering the community to have the skills to cultivate kelulut honey.
