Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - The Navy hospital ship KRI dr. Soeharso-990 open for the public during the dock at the Trisakti Port Banjarmasin, while the Navy Academy (AAL) cadets who were brought in will go to schools.
"The cadets will do a lot of activities while in South Kalimantan, including visiting schools to promote the interest of local youth to enter the Navy," said Commander of the Banjarmasin Navy Base (Danlanal) Marine Colonel (P) Wijayanto, Tuesday.
A total of 107 Level II AAL cadets arrived in Banjarmasin in the Practicum Prajalasesya Exercise, which included cruise introductory training. They consist of 96 males and 11 females. Among the schools they visited were SMAN 2 and SMAN 3 Banjarmasin and SMAN 1 and SMAN 3 Banjarbaru.
The cadets are also scheduled to visit the South Kalimantan Regional Police headquarters, the Provincial Military Command (Korem) 101 Antasari, Syamsudin Noor Air Base, Banjarmasin Naval Base, and the Provincial Government office.
Banjarmasin Mayor Ibnu Sina hopes that the cadets will motivate the young generation in the city to be interested to become the Navy soldier so that more and more youth of the region are successful in serving in the Navy.
"We are happy and proud that the city of Banjarmasin has always been chosen as a stopover from its Prajalases Practice. Let the students at the school take advantage of meeting cadets to ask questions and dig up information about the Navy. For people, please also come to the port to visit the ship," said Ibnu Sina.
Meanwhile the Commander of KRI dr. Soeharso Marine Lt. Col. (P) Joko Setiono invited all the people of Banjarmasin and surrounding areas to visit and see more closely the Indonesian Warship.
Moreover, the Navy's floating hospital ship is so large with all the facilities it has.
"Our Open Ship is held for two days before leaving for Surabaya on August 30. So take advantage of this rare opportunity to be able to board a ship that is the only floating hospital in Indonesia," he said.
