Tanjung, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - The Tabalong Environmental Agency, South Kalimantan, planted hundreds of bamboo seeds in the conservation area of Garagata Village, Jaro Subdistrict.
Head of the agency Rowi Rawatianice in Tanjung on Saturday said the planting of 300 bamboo seeds carried out today involves all elements of the community.
"NGOs, the military and police, government agencies, the private sector and the community are involved in planting today," Rowi explained.
The bamboo seedlings planted were of black betung originating from the breeders' group that was fostered by the Adaro Bangun Negeri Foundation.
Rowi said this planting is an attempt by the local government to withstand abrasion along the Tabalong River and to increase water infiltration in the soil. Including to reduce water discharge and river basin areas conservation.
"We want to educate the public to love planting trees as an effort to protect the river basin areas," explained Rowi.
