Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - The Banjarmasin Public Order and Fire Agency (Dinas Satpol PP dan Pemadam Kebakaran) Head Hermansyah stated that the city government needs a home for handling street children and their sustainable guidance.
When he was in the city's legislative council building on Monday, he said that the operations to curb street children have so far been futile, as they were not accompanied by continuous guidance.
According to him, the need for continuous guidance in order they no longer return to the streets for begging.
"We only could hold them for coaching at the office for two days. In fact, it does not make them aware and repent, and they go back to the road," he said.
Even if they were submitted to the relevant agencies for coaching, he added, could not be maximized because we indeed do not have a representative place for sustainable coaching, such as an orphanage.
"Just imagine, among them the same person tens of times caught and we disciplined, made the statement to no longer repeat begging on the street," he said.
According to him, social problems in the large city are complex, including the homeless, beggars and street children, as well as CSWs.
"Though we intensively do curbing vagrancy, street children, and prostitutes, they never disappeared, not even a few days, we repeatedly done curbing," he explained.
According to him, this issue is not only the responsibility of the city government but all parties, including provincial and central government.
"After all, our regional budget is very limited, so it does not easily build this and that, including the place for street children fostering like an orphanage, but maybe one day can be realized," he hopes.
