Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The Regent of Kotabaru, South Kalimantan, M Rusli handed over aid worth Rp700 million following the fire at Kemakmuran Market in Kotabaru Tengah Urban Village, Pulau Laut Utara Sub-district.
The Regent said the fire at the main market was a grievous occurance and had a major impact on the merchants.
“I am very concern about this incident,” said the Regent in Kotabaru, Tuesday.
Following the incident, he continued, the district government of Kotabaru immediately coordinated intensively with the central government to get budget support from the State Budget (APBN) through the Ministry of Trade.

It was to expedite the recovery of Kemakmuran Market after the fire.
“Insya Allah, I will go to the Ministry of Trade, hoping that we can get help rebuilding our market,” he said.
Meanwhile, at a different place, Head of the Kotabaru Cooperative, Industry and Trade Office Risa Ahyani said the government is committed to supporting merchants until they return to their normal activities.
“Kotabaru Regent visits fire site and handed over relocation assistance taken from Bank Kalsel's CSR fund,” he said.
The fund, he added, will be used to construct temporary shelters for block G, Leter T market, furniture block, with relocation to part of second floor of block C and under the hallway front of Block C, depan Blok B dan F.

The office has also re-evaluated the need to install smoke detection and CCTV in market areas, a project to be pursued in 2026, with the hope of realizing it.
“With early smoke detection, fire can be monitored, and market guards will be more disciplined in monitoring their assigned areas,” he explained.
Also present were Deputy Speaker of DPRD, representatives from the Police Chief, Prosecutor's Office, Bank Kalsel, Expert Staff for Economy, Expert Staff for Community and Human Resources, and Head of BPKAD (Financial and Asset Management Agency).
