Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Vice President Jusuf Kalla gives appreciation to the South Kalimantan Police and the ranks for having succeeded in reducing the number of traffic accidents in Ramadniya Intan 2017 code operation.
"We are grateful and appreciated to the South Kalimantan Police Chief and the whole range, including other elements such as local government and society, for repressing the number of accidents in Eid season this year," said the Vice President in a video conference when declaring the Year of Safety for Humanity in Jakarta, Sunday.
Police Chief Brig. Gen. Rachmat Mulyana here in his report to the vice president, who was accompanied by a number of ministers and Deputy National Police Chief Commander General Syafruddin, said based on analysis and evaluation on Security, Order safety, and Smooth Traffic (Kamseltibcar) data the accidents decreased significantly by 52 percent compared to 2016.
During 16 days of operation 24 cases recorded with the 16 victims died. While in 2016 there were 52 cases with the death toll of 30 people.
"We increased the preemptive efforts, namely public traffic education (Dikcipaslantas), forming traffic and road transportation forums and Alhamdulillah community awareness to orderly traffic increased and eventually helped reduce the accident then," said police chief when launching Safety for Humanity at Menara Pandang building on Sunday.
Meanwhile, South Kalimantan Traffic Police Director Sr Comr (Kombes) E Zulpan expected awareness and participation of all stakeholders and elements of the community to increase road safety factor.
"Safety responsibilities are not only charged to the police, but the relevant stakeholders in traffic and the community are important parts of the safety," Zulpan said.
At the event held simultaneously throughout Indonesia, the police chief provided compensation to the victims of traffic accidents. Residents with disabilities of body parts received the wheelchair and walking sticks.
While the resort police who excel in the Patuh Intan Operation and Ramadniya Intan 2017 Operation awarded with trophies and certificates.
